Bookkeeping Intelligence will take care of your bookkeeping needs, provide you with valuable financial information, and support you in getting more value out of your business.
Many business owners are very successful at what they do. Too many, however, are currently being hamstrung by poor bookkeeping practices, unaware that a certified bookkeeper could remove the tiresome burden of disorganised records and help them plan responsibly for the future.
Every business is required by law to ‘keep books’. Over and above this, keeping accurate records makes sound business sense. What if you could take that information and use it more effectively within your business? That would then help to give you a competitive advantage.
We undertake a free initial consultation to understand your needs. We then agree how we can help you comply with your legal requirement to produce “books” and at the same time use that information more effectively within your business.
Whether you are a sole trader who requires just a couple of hours a month, or a larger business needing someone on a more regular basis, we offer a range of services including general bookkeeping, VAT returns, tax returns, management accounting, business advisory and health checks.
Save time, make more money, grow and improve your business – we call that Bookkeeping Intelligence.
Paul Maddison

Before starting Bookkeeping Intelligence, I was a commercial banker for nearly 30 years, gaining a wealth of knowledge and experience working with Small Business clients.
During my banking career, I met many businesses experiencing poor bookkeeping practices, or who had a fantastic set of “books” but were not using that information to improve their business. I realised there was an opportunity to help businesses not only comply with their legal obligation to “keep books”, but to turn the cost of producing those books into a valuable asset.
At the same time, I have been able to combine my passion of working with numbers, and data, to produce meaningful and useful business information.
Helping others achieve their goals is something I’m passionate about. I measure my success on how well I can help businesses grow in an effective and safe manner. My customers have always been at the heart of my business activities. I have an empathetic, positive and optimistic approach, very personable and believe anything is possible.
I am a fully qualified and certified bookkeeper through the Institute of Certified Bookkeepers. Bookkeeping is a regulated profession and I would encourage you to always insist on a Certified Bookkeeper and verify their credentials.

During my career, I have been involved in developing and managing processes and systems, often at highly regulated companies.
As Practice Manager, I help to manage the systems and processes for Bookkeeping Intelligence, ensuring our records are compliant and satisfy the requirements of the various Regulatory Bodies we report to.
I am an organiser by nature. My role as Practice Manager also enables me to focus on supporting our clients to meet their legal and financial obligations.
